You and your rival take turns placing pieces from one shared tray on an 8×8 board. Fill a row or column to score it. Blocks you clear that belong to your rival count as steals. First to 100 points wins.

Open Menu → How to play for the full rules. Beat a rival to unlock the next one; there are 10. The Daily heist is the same puzzle for everyone each day, and 2 players lets two people play on one phone.

Every match gives you 3 free hints. After that you can get up to 3 more in the same match, one per rewarded video ad, or use a banked hint from a hint pack.

If you own No Ads, those 3 extra hints come without the ad. Tapping Hint again on the same turn shows the same hint and doesn't use another one.

The hint is given only if the ad plays to the end. Closing it early gives no hint, and you can try again.

If the button says needs a connection, or no ad is available, check that you're online and try again in a minute. Ads sometimes run out for a short while.

Yes. All modes, rivals and free hints work without a connection. Only watching an ad and the Store need the internet.

1. Sign in to the same Google account (Android) or Apple ID (iPhone/iPad) you bought it with.
2. Open the game, tap Menu → Store.
3. Tap Restore Purchases.

No Ads moves between Android phones on one Google account, and between iPhones and iPads on one Apple ID. It doesn't move between Android and iPhone, because the two stores keep separate purchase records.

Some payments take a few minutes to go through, especially with cash, bank transfer or carrier billing. Keep the game open with a connection, then open Menu → Store again.

If the hints still haven't arrived after an hour, email me with the order number and I'll sort it out.

Your unlocked rivals, wins and banked hints are saved on your phone, not in an account. Updating the game keeps them.

Uninstalling the game or clearing its data in your phone's settings erases them. Your phone's own backup (Google backup on Android, iCloud on iPhone) may bring them back when you set up a phone from that backup, but that isn't guaranteed.

Banked hints can't be restored with Restore Purchases, so use them before you switch phones. No Ads can always be restored.

Refunds are handled by the store you paid:

• Google Play: go to play.google.com/store/account/orderhistory, find the purchase and choose Request a refund. Within 48 hours of buying, Google usually decides quickly. After that, email me with the order number and I'll look at it.
• App Store: go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and choose Request a refund. Apple decides these; I can't refund App Store purchases myself.

The game uses your phone's language. It's available in English, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Latin America), Japanese, Indonesian, German, French, Hindi, Korean and Turkish.

To use a different language just for Line Thief: on Android 13 or newer, Settings → Apps → Line Thief → Language. On iPhone or iPad, Settings → Apps → Line Thief → Language.

Tap the ♪ button at the top of the screen, next to Menu. The game remembers your choice.

Where the law requires a consent form (for example in the EU and UK), Menu → Privacy choices opens it again so you can change your answer. On iPhone and iPad, tracking is controlled in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Hints work the same whatever you choose.
